Bakewell and Eyam Community Transport

About Us

Community transport is part of the mainstream public transport system. It provides a comprehensive public transport service using accessible vehicles, enabling individuals who are unable to use ordinary buses and trains to undertake journeys normally taken for granted.

Bakewell and Eyam Community Transport was set up in 1989 by a small group of interested local people.

Initially funded partly by local government and partly by charitable donation, the service started with just one minibus vehicle.

We now run a fleet of specialised community buses, designed for easy access by people with walking difficulties or people in wheelchairs, as well as some smaller people-carrier type vehicles again modified for wheelchair access.

The organisation currently employs 7 office staff in two locations: the main office in Great Longstone, and a satellite office at Hope.
