Why Volunteer?
In addition to volunteer drivers, Bakewell and Eyam Community Transport has a number of volunteer carers or passenger assistants who will travel with elderly and disabled passengers and assist them, both whilst on the journey and when they reach their destination. This is particularly useful for people on shopping trips to a big supermarket, for instance, but also anywhere where the passenger may need help getting around, or just for some companionship.
Anyone with time to spare can apply to become a volunteer. Volunteers are needed throughout the day, evenings and weekends. Anyone who holds a current driving licence can apply to become a volunteer driver. Volunteer drivers and passenger assistants are all offered training in passenger care, safety and first aid. If you have existing skills from which you feel our organisation could benefit, please do not hesitate to contact us.
